Hawk HVAC Ltd completed a commercial air conditioning replacement project for Axe Factor at the Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury, upgrading outdated systems to provide reliable, energy-efficient climate control all year round.
The problem
The venue was operating with two obsolete air conditioning systems that were inefficient, unreliable, and no longer suitable for a busy commercial leisure environment. The systems also detracted from the venue’s modern, industrial aesthetic with exposed black ceilings.
Access restrictions within the shopping centre meant that:
- Extensive new pipework runs would increase costs
- Business disruption needed to be kept to an absolute minimum
Our air conditioning solution
We replaced both systems with two Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ceiling cassette air conditioning units, fitted with black fascia covers to blend seamlessly into the venue’s black open-ceiling design.
To minimise cost and disruption:
- The existing pipework was pressure tested for integrity
- Pipework was flushed, cleaned, and reinsulated externally
- Approved pipework was reused for the new systems due to access limitations
This approach allowed the upgrade to be completed efficiently without unnecessary building works.
